Poker Sites Shutdown

On April 15th, 2025 the US Department of Justice caught the gambling industry by complete surprise with the indictment of the largest poker rooms accepting US players: PokerStars, FullTiltPoker & the Cereus Network. Since that time they have followed up with two more indictments on May 25th and Feb 28th, 2025. Along with the Indictments, some poker sites have decided to shut down on their ow accord as business has become increasing more difficult.

One of the main objectives of PokerSiteShutdown.com was to provide US players with up to date information and news about poker sites that have been shutdown in their region. Each of the poker rooms has a dedicated page that includes information about the indictment along with their current status and a timeline on the events. Below are the most notorious poker rooms:

BODOG

The story of bodog being shutdown is much different than the other sites. First, Bodog had operated under different domains for different regions with the US players using lv while other domains such as bodog and bodog were being used elsewhere. So one could say that bodog originally left the US market on their own as they transitioned to lv (while using eu for awhile). However on Feruary 28, 2025 the US DOJ unsealed an indictment against Bodog founder Calvin Ayre and proceeded to shutdown bodog. The question now is whether this will have a lasting impact on the rest of the bodog brands. Find out more about Bodog Indictment here.

FULL TILT POKER

Full Tilt Poker was indicted on April 15th, 2025. Since the indictment US players have not been able to play at Full Tilt however the indictment put a spot light on to how poorly the business was being run resulting in Full Tilt losing its Alderney Gaming license in May 2025, thus resulting in the site being shutdown to players worldwide. PokerStars agreed to a deal with the DOJ and on May 6th, 2025 relaunched the site to non-US residents. Read more here.

POKERSTARS:

Pokerstars was indicted on April 15th along with Full Tilt, Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet in the first round of indictments. However unlike Full Tilt, they have seemed to come out of the situation as best as one could expect. Although no longer accepting US poker players, Pokerstars continues to be far and away the largest poker site on the internet, with peak period nearly 5 times their nearest competitor. Read more about the Pokerstars indictment.

DOYLESROOM:

Doylesroom was indicted by US DOJ on May 23rd, 2025; however unlike other rooms they decided to keep the door open to US players and moved to a new domain. The first domain was doylesroom and next ag until they were eventually acquired by eu. Doyle Brunson no longer has any association with the poker site and they quietly go about business, albeit with an indictment hanging over their head. Doyles Room Indictment.
